This manual discusses aspects of physical fitness and officer stress.
Abstract
The curriculum covers the effects of occupational stress, physical disablers of law enforcement officers, short- and long-term effects of alcohol and tobacco, and substances which have the potential for abuse. Other topics related to physical fitness include programs for preventing heart disease and stomach ulcers, the effects of food on body composition, foods high or low in certain nutrients, and principles for managing body composition. The final chapters discuss aspects of health care and disease prevention including personal fitness, exercise, and conditioning programs. Each section includes a list of performance objectives and an outlined curriculum for the particular topic.
