A BROCHURE PREPARED FOR THE SECOND ANNUAL MEETING OF PORT WHICH DESCRIBES THE PROGRAM UP TO 1971 AND CONTAINS BRIEF CASE HISTORIES OF THOSE CLIENTS WHO WERE RELEASED.
Abstract
PORT PROVIDES AN ALTERNATIVE FOR THOSE MALE OFFENDERS WHO REQUIRE A GREATER CHANGE IN THEIR LIFESTYLES THAN PROBATION CAN ACCOMPLISH AND WHO, EXCEPT FOR PORT, WOULD END UP IN A PRISON OR TRAINING SCHOOL. THE CASE HISTORIES CONTAIN INFORMATION ON THE CLIENT'S AGE, REFERRING COURT, OFFENSE, ALTERNATIVE DISPOSITION IF PORT WERE NOT AVAILABLE, DATE OF ENTRY TO PORT, AND A CAPSULE DESCRIPTION OF HIS PRESENT PROGRESS AND PROGNOSIS. AFTER THE FIRST TWO YEARS OF OPERATION, FIFTY-SEVEN CLIENTS WERE RELEASED FROM PORT. FOR OTHER PORT DOCUMENTATION, PLEASE REFER TO NCJ NUMBERS 14365, 14368, AND 14369.
