Information and data are presented for the Oklahoma Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (OK PDMP), which is administered by the Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics, a law enforcement agency.
Abstract
The PDMP email address is provided, along with website addresses for the home page, enrollment, and queries. Contact information is provided for the PDMP Administrator. Statistics for 2017 cover the state population (3,940,521), DEA registered prescribers (17,414), and DEA registered dispensers (932). Available PDMP reports are listed. Funding sources for the PDMP in 2018 were a Harold Rogers grant and a CDC grant. PDMP staff numbers for 2018 cover the following job categories: operational (2), technical (2), analytical (2), and "other" (4). Key PDMP dates pertain to enabling legislation (May 1990), becoming operational (1991), on-line access (July 2006), and electronic reporting (1991). Source information is provided for statutes and rules relevant to PDMP policies and procedures. Reporting frequency for monitored drugs is "real-time." Drugs monitored by the PDMP are controlled substances in schedules II, III, IV, and V. Data are also required for naloxone administration and dispensing, and marijuana. The PDMP also has the authority to monitor other substances. Miscellaneous capabilities and policies are listed. Prescribers, but not dispensers, are required to enroll in and use the PDMP. Law enforcement agencies can query the PDMP for information on patient drug use only if there is an existing active investigation of the patient. Regarding data retention, 3 years of data are kept on-line, and older data are archived indefinitely. Training in the use of the PDMP is available, but not required, for various professional groups. Technological capabilities of the PDMP system are indicated, along with reports authorized for production by requestor type.
