          Abstract
The three stages in the reactions of traumatic events are period of impact, recoil, and reorganization. Victims of crime and other types of trauma show similarity in the type of reactions noted, but there are a few issues which relate specifically to the holdup experience: a negative self-image in the workplace, inability to concentrate at work, conflict between the employer and employee, and anger at the employer. Factors influencing recovery include pre-assault factors, assault factors, and post-assault factors. The Post Hold-Up Assistance Program is designed as a support program for holdup victims and focuses on education, counseling, and research. 6 references.
