The activities of the Research and Documentation Center (RDC) of the Netherlands Ministry of Justice will be determined in large measure by the new policy plan of the Ministry, which emphasizes legislation, law enforcement, and reorganization of the judiciary and the police.
Abstract
General areas of future research will likely be maintenance of the rule of law, cross-cultural criminology, the criminal justice enforcement of environmental law, alternatives to custody, and victim support. Specific research projects described in this report cover legislation and law enforcement, legal aid and victim support, police and crime prevention, immigration and asylum policy, alternative sanctions, juvenile delinquency, and detention. The documentation component of the RDC consists of national and international literature on criminology, victimology, criminal law procedure, police, judicial power, prison systems, and probation and aftercare services. Abstracts from RDC research projects are included as an appendix to this report. 1 appendix
