Chapter 3 is devoted to crime victims: reporting behavior, victim characteristics, property loss, relationship between victim and offender, victims rights, and victims resources. The following set of statistics describes offenders: previous criminal record; offender characteristics; and the impact of race, gender, and age on criminality. The chapter about the criminal justice response includes charts and graphs on the criminal justice process and law enforcement, prosecution and bail, the courts, and corrections. A chapter each is devoted to the juvenile justice response and child sexual abuse, while another chapter deals with the interrelationship of drugs and crime. A chapter on the use of innovative technology in the criminal justice system concludes the report. Bibliographical references are included after each chapter.
