This report lists the subjects of research on female inmates conducted by the New York State Department of Correctional Services between 1975 and 1985.
Abstract
These studies examined the profile of female inmates and changes over time, commitment offenses, time served, and male/female offender differences. Others considered the family background and relationships of female offenders, the status of children of inmate mothers, and nursery programs in 10 States. Additional research examined recidivism and factors affecting it, domestic violence among incarcerated women, and female homicide offenders (family and nonfamily murder, manslaughter, and negligent homicide). The series contains 19 research reports.
