THIS INFORMATION SYSTEM SURVEY WAS CONDUCTED IN 1976 FOR THE SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT (WHOSE 1,389 SWORN EMPLOYEES SERVE 770,527 PERSONS LIVING IN AN AREA OF 313 SQUARE MILES.
Abstract
THE ARJIS PROJECT BEGAN IN NOVEMBER, 1975, WITH THE PRIMARY GOAL OF DEVELOPING AN INTEGRATED AND AUTOMATED REGIONAL CRIMINAL JUSTICE INFORMATION SYSTEM TO PROVIDE SERVICE TO LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES IN THE SAN DIEGO AREA. SURVEY DATA REFLECTED IN THIS REPORT WAS COLLECTED BY REVIEWING ALL PROJECT DOCUMENTATION THAT HAS BEEN GENERATED FOR EACH OF THE ARJIS PROGRAM APPLICATIONS. A SUMMARY OF THE FINDINGS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING SUGGESTIONS: DEVELOPMENT OF THE ARJIS APPLICATIONS TO INCLUDE AGENCIES OTHER THAN THE SAN DIEGO POLICE DEPARTMENT AND DESIGNING THE APPLICATIONS IN A MODULAR FORM SO THAT OTHER USERS MAY SELECT DESIRABLE FEATURES.
