              This text summarizes Act 416 of the Public Acts of 1978 of Michigan, presents the sheriff's views on the status of law enforcement efforts, and discusses the status of the Secondary Road Patrol.
          Abstract
              Public Act 416 of 1978, as amended, requires an annual report on the coordination of local and State law enforcement agencies and related law enforcement issues. Also noted in the report are law enforcement training effort and the status of communication systems. Secondary road patrol personnel and major activities of the road patrol are reported. Data concerning accident investigations, motorist assistance, crime complaints reports, and general accident trends are included. The need for sheriffs departments to selectively deploy their Secondary Road Patrol deputies is noted. Nineteen tables, eight figures, and three appendixes are provided.
