Abstract
In the course of preparing the report, Federal and regional agencies were contacted to determine what information was readily available for prosecutors in the area of child abuse and neglect, what information was soon to be published, and what topics required further in-depth research. Sources contacted during this effort included the National Center on Child Abuse and Neglect, the Child Welfare League, the National Criminal Justice Reference Service, and the Children's Defense Fund. The National District Attorney's Association and the American Bar Association surfaced as the most familiar and knowledgeable of prosecution proceedings in child abuse and neglect cases. Documents compiled in the volume examine innovations in the prosecution of child sexual abuse, child abuse and neglect litigation, Federal standards for child abuse and neglect prevention and treatment, and child protection. An appendix contains a list of national and regional organizations concerned with child abuse and neglect, a publications list of the American Bar Association's National Legal Resource Center for Child Advocacy and Protection, and supplemental information on child abuse and protection.
