This directory provides information on 93 organizations in southern California that deliver services for battered women and their children, based on data collected between September 1982 and March 1983.
Abstract
The directory presents both a services profile and shelter information for each entry, using a chart format. Types of services covered are shelters, assistance in finding emergency shelter, counseling for battered women, counseling for children, 24-hour hotline, information and referral, counseling for batterers, and community education. This profile also identifies the year the program started, fees, number of paid staff and volunteers, languages spoken other than English, and accommodations for the handicapped. The shelter profile gives information on maximum stay, capacity, types of counseling available, support groups, welfare and legal advocacy, and assistance in finding housing and employment. A map is included.
