This manual provides guidelines for organizing and conducting workshops or other in-service training to develop the planning skills of corrections personnel.
Abstract
Following an overview of the manual, which includes a statement of the rationale for the guidelines, a description of the organization of the manual, and directions to users, a general orientation to the philosophy and basic concepts of systematic planning is presented. Participants are then oriented to the units that compose the workshop curriculum. Overviews are given of each session of the units, which treat the systems approach to planning, developing plans for correctional systems, constructing system implementation plans, and planning the evaluation of correctional systems. The units described can be used as presented or modified to fit local situations. The training methods described involve the trainees in planning activities. Three references and a bilbliography listing 79 references and 10 journals appended. (Author abstract modified)
