Created in 1980, the California Board of Corrections' Standards and Training for Corrections Program (STC) has accomplished significant results.
Abstract
The original legislative mandate to establish minimum standards for the selection and training of local corrections and probation officers has been implemented. Fiscal year 1982-83 statistics show an impressive increase in participating departments and training courses offered; diversification of training providers; and numerous, concrete examples of the program's effectiveness. The report deals with the development and continuing impact of the STC Program. Major accomplishments are highlighted, and projections for fiscal year 1983-84 are made.
