Abstract
The Commission on Judicial Performance in the State of California is an independent State agency responsible for investigating complaints of judicial misconduct and judicial incapacity and for disciplining judges. This annual report from the Commission, presents an overview of the work performed by the Commission during 2009. The report is divided into seven sections: Part I: Overview of the Complaint Process; Part II: Legal Authority and Commission Procedures; Part III: 2009 Statistics - Active and Former Judges; Part IV: Case Summaries; Part V: Subordinate Judicial Officers; Part VI: Judicial Disability Retirement; and Part VII: Commission Organization, Staff and Budget. Also included in the report is a listing of the current 11 members of the Commission and 4 appendixes that provide information on the Commission's Governing Provisions, the California Code of Judicial Ethics, Complaint Form, and Commission Proceedings Chart.
