Length
52 pages

This report details the operations of Maine's judicial branch and the courts of Maine during 1993.
Abstract
The Judicial Branch is building on the work of the Commission to Study the Future of Maine's Courts to begin to make plans for an improved system for the administration of justice. The year 1993 presented a major funding crisis, but by the end of the year all judicial vacancies had been filled and a commendable level of performance had been achieved. Although caseloads increased in the most complex areas of litigation, the courts were able to keep up with the filings. Current projects include child support enforcement, improved information sharing and communications, court facilities, computerization, judicial education, and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
