Abstract
This publication highlights these and other elements of risk assessment selection and implementation and serves as a comprehensive guide for those interested in risk assessments in juvenile justice. This publication is part of a new series intended to support National Center for Juvenile Justice's (NCJJ's) Juvenile Justice Geography, Policy, Practice and Statistics Web site development effort. This publication released in support of the Web site development project addresses the prevalence of risk assessment tools in juvenile probation. These risk assessment tools serve as the foundations for developing evidence-based practices, enhancing efforts to treat offenders, and reducing recidivism, all of which ultimately increase public safety. This is the first time NCJJ has conducted a scan of risk assessment practices at the State level in juvenile probation.
