Abstract
"COP Office and Police Foundation Release Reports on Averted School Violence" provides an overview of and online access to two reports that provide case studies, statistical analysis, findings, recommendations, and conclusions regarding averting school violence. Among key findings from the reports is that most potential school attacks were averted because students reported their concerns about another student's threat, plot, or other behavior that raised concerns. "Autism FYI Offers Free Training, App and More to Law Enforcement" profiles a program developed by "Autism FYI" that promotes autism awareness among first responders and offers a system in which persons with autism register to receive a unique ID number, an ID card, and a bracelet marked with the organization's recognition symbol. First responders in a registrant's community are notified of the registration. "Following a Map to Efficient Lab Practices" presents an overview and provides online access to a publication created by the National Institute of Justice's Forensic Technology Center of Excellence (FTCoE) entitled, "Development of a Lean Facility Design Roadmap for Design-Bid-Build Forensic Facilities." It is described as containing a "roadmap" for agencies to follow when planning for a new or upgraded forensic laboratory. In addition, this article provides an overview and online access to another FTCoE publication entitled "Technical Note: Conducting a Forensic Facility Needs Assessment Using Lean Facility Design: A Case Example." This publication outlines the steps for using lean facility design (LED) to conduct a needs assessment and presents a case study in which these steps were followed.
