Abstract
The State's rapidly increasing inmate population reached 28,543 during the year, representing a 13 percent increase over last year. A new prison site was found. The department's treatment division provided for inmates' physiological health care, mental health care, social services, educational programs, etc. The industries division has 22 separate facilities producing numerous goods and services for tax-supported agencies through Texas and other States. Organizational charts, photographs, and statistical data are provided.
