THIS DIVISION PROVIDES RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS. ITS FOUR FUNCTIONAL BRANCHES INCLUDE RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT, AND PLANNING. THE ACTIVITIES OF EACH BRANCH ARE SUMMARIZED, AND THE REPORTS PREPARED DURING THE YEAR BY THE RESEARCH AND PLANNING BRANCHES ARE ABSTRACTED. BRIEF DESCRIPTIONS OF THE PROGRAMS AND GRANTS DEVELOPED BY THE RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT BRANCH AND THE DEVELOPMENT BRANCH ARE ALSO INCLUDED. A LIST OF COOPERATING AGENCIES APPEARS IN THE APPENDIX.
