Abstract
On April 10, 2014, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) published this report summarizing outcomes of the 2012 Town Hall Meeting initiative. The Town Hall meetings provided a focused forum to educate communities about underage drinking and engage them in prevention efforts. The findings are based on a number of sources of qualitative and quantitative data. This report concludes that town hall meetings were successful in making communities more aware of the problem of underage drinking and in engaging communities in effective solutions to prevent underage drinking. Examples are included throughout the document. Brief case studies that illustrate different approaches are included, as well as lessons learned in hosting successful events. Exhibits and appendixes
