This paper provides a guide and several resources for how to generate dense facial tissue depth maps from three-dimensional models of head computed tomography scans, using a specific software tool called Meshlab.
This guide outlines the steps to generate dense facial tissue depth maps (FTDM) from 3D models of head computed tomography (CT) scans using Meshlab v.1.3.3. Any scans (CT or CBCT) that have been rendered into separate 3D bone and skin surfaces can be used: STL models are input and converted to PLY models and point clouds within the software, and the tissue depth values are saved in the “vertex quality” field of the PLY model.
