This short video of instruction in best practices for law enforcement officers working on stalking cases is one in a series of training videos on stalking sponsored by the Stalking Prevention, Awareness, & Resources Center (SPARC).

Abstract

The law enforcement instructor is Sergeant Denise Jones of the Clark County Sheriff’s Office (Ohio). She first advises law enforcement officers to become familiar with their state’s stalking law and how the law is being enforced in other jurisdictions and interpreted in state courts. Officers should also examine training materials from organizations that provide resources on addressing stalking and serving its victims, such as SPARC. The video also advises officers to be attentive to stalking law violations in the context of cases of intimate partner violence and sexual assault, since these offenses are often accompanied or preceded by stalking.
