DEPARTMENT OF POLITICAL SCIENCE PROGRAM LEADS TO A BS DEGREE WITH A MAJOR IN POLICE SCIENCE AND ADMINISTRATION.
Abstract
LAW ENFORCEMENT EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IN WISCONSIN INCLUDE 1) IN SERVICE, 2) CERTIFICATE, 3) 2 YEAR OR ASSOCIATE DEGREE 4) 4-YEAR OR BACCALAUREATE DEGREE. THE CURRICULA LEADING TO THESE DEGREES ARE LISTED IN THE APPENDIX. A STUDENT MAY MAJOR IN POLITICAL SCIENCE AND ADMINISTRATION AT ANY OF THE NINE UNIVERSITIES IN THE STATE SYSTEM, AND RECEIVE ASSISTANCE FROM LEAA. GROWTH OF STUDENT POPULATION INTERESTED IN THE PROGRAM WAS 125 STUDENTS IN FALL 1968 TO 200 PLUS IN FALL 1969. A STUDENT INTERNSHIP PROGRAM WAS MADE AVAILABLE IN 22 STATES. PUBLICITY OF LAW ENFORCEMENT PROGRAMS, THE AVAILABILITY OF ONLY ONE BACCALAUREATE PROGRAM IN THE STATE, PERSONAL APPEARANCES, AND ARTICLES HAVE MADE THE PROGRAM VERY POPULAR.
