This 1992 annual report of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department recounts significant events, presents statistics on a regional basis, and describes the activities of the various divisions.
Abstract
The worst riots in the Nation's history erupted in South Central Los Angeles in April. During the year, two deputies were killed in the line of duty. Deputies in action were featured on the television shows "Cops," "Rescue 911," "On Scene--Emergency Response," "Code 3," "America's Most Wanted," "Prime Suspect," and "Unsolved Mysteries." Service- oriented policing continued to bloom; the total number of personnel dropped due to budgetary constrictions. In October, in a response to an evaluation published in July, the department expressed both agreement with the vast majority of recommendations and disappointment that extraordinary individual efforts were not mentioned. Statistical summaries include a synopsis and present cases handled by location, 10 most frequent crimes, 10 most frequent arrests, crime rates, and stolen and recovered property. Tables, graphs, index
