This report contains a slide show demonstrating the capabilities of youth courts and presents a series of reports and letters as examples to be used by youth courts.
Abstract
Generated for a fictitious Y-ME Youth Court, the letters and reports offered here are designed to make it easy to manage a youth court and effectively integrate it into the community. The overall goal of the project was to design software to conduct evaluations of youth courts throughout New York State. The resulting software package is called TEAM YC (Tools to Evaluate and Manage Youth Courts) and is described as a state-of-the-art program combining data management, word processing, and Internet links. The slide show contained in this report demonstrates how TEAM YC works and contains examples of administrative reports and letters to be used as guidelines by youth courts. Included in this report are court hearing descriptions; a detailed list of scheduled activities; attendance sheets for community services, classroom activities, jury duties, and prison and jail visits; a variety of case completed letters; a summary of all court hearings including court dates, offenders, and court personnel; and a report regarding court personnel activities. A final report toward the end of this document presents descriptions of the tasks and accomplishments of the project, detailed progress reports, a process evaluation of the New York State Youth Court Program generated using TEAM YC, examples of reports and letters, and a budget summary detailing spending.
