This publication presents coding information for a study of criminal involvement and deterrence in a cohort (1979-1981) of high school youth in Columbia, S.C.
Abstract
It provides a list of variable names and labels, file structure, record length, and coding information and instructions by deck and column number, and by variable name. Questionnaire data collected included demographic and socioeconomic characteristics, educational and occupational aspirations, and peer group activities. Also collected was information on respondents' offenses, apprehensions by police, attitudes toward deviance, and perceived certainty of punishment.
