The National Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) aims to create a coordinated community response that ensures just resolution to sexual assault cases and increase public safety through a comprehensive and victim-centered approach; capacity building to prevent accumulation of unsubmitted SAKs in the future and supporting the investigation and prosecution of the resulting cases.

This meeting, hosted by the SAKI Training and Technical Assistance (TTA) Team, supports these goals and the Department of Justice's key criminal justice priorities of reducing violent crime and supporting local criminal justice agencies.

All 54 SAKI-funded jurisdictions, federal stakeholders and sexual assault response subject matter experts will have the opportunity to engage in peer-to-peer technical assistance activities not otherwise possible due to the wide-spread locations of the SAKI grantees. The goal of this meeting is to provide a platform to discuss the sustainability of sexual assault response reform efforts and produce a set of promising practices to improve practices related to investigation and prosecution, in connection with sexual assault evidence and cases.
