Registration for the Opioid Affected Youth Initiative Webinar: Public Health and Safety Partnership to Prevent and Treat Overdose is now open. Join us to continue exploring strategies for addressing the challenges associated with opioid and other substance use disorders (SUDs) among children, youth, and families.

In this webinar, Dr. Yngvild Olsen, director of the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s (SAMHSA) Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), will access the framework for data-informed decision-making between public health and public safety that enhances relationship-building and collaboration to reduce overdose deaths and harms associated with substance misuse. This session will highlight the benefits of medicated-assisted treatment (MAT) as an evidence-based modality in sustaining recovery from opioid misuse while de-stigmatizing MAT and reappraising it as a lifesaving approach to building stronger and more supportive communities.

After this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand SAMHSA’s strategic focus on supporting youth and young adults using equitable and recovery-centered approaches.
  • Apply data-driven overdose prevention strategies to support individual and community needs more comprehensively.
  • Adopt identified resources and best practices for expanding access to effective SUD treatment options.
