This report presents information on the percentage of households or persons in households who are victimized as measured by the National Crime Victimization Survey.
Abstract
Presents information on the percentage of households or persons in households who are victimized as measured by the National Crime Victimization Survey. Findings are presented by region; urban, suburban or rural location; and by household size. This annual report also includes overall trends since 1994 and includes vandalism and intimate partner violence.
- Both violent and property crimes declined between 1994 and 2004.
- About 1 in every 27 households in 2004 were either burglarized or had a member age 12 or older who was a victim of violent crime committed by a stranger.
- In 2004 about 1 in 250 households included a member victimized by a intimate partner, such as a spouse, ex-spouse, boyfriend, or girlfriend.
