Abstract
The speakers emphasize the importance of a law enforcement agency having the resources necessary to identify the symptoms of and ensure treatment for officers who manifest the symptoms of trauma and risk for suicide. Preventive maintenance is also important in providing officers with training in the symptoms of work-related trauma and the resources available for diagnosis and treatment. Officer awareness of daily stressors and healthy ways of coping with it must also be incorporate in ongoing training and personnel management.
