Abstract
This overview describes the rationale for studying the life course of new first-line supervisors in police organizations. It presents first-wave findings from a longitudinal study of supervisors that starts at the beginning of basic supervisory training. Results represent 16 classes whose supervisor training took place between January 2009 and April 2010 at three participating sites.
