This brief presents aggregate data for 118 grantees of the U.S. Justice Department’s Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) across six human trafficking OVC grant programs for the period July 2018-June 2019.
Abstract
The data come from the OVC Trafficking Information Management System (TIMS), which serves as a centralized repository for grant-required performance metrics and case-specific information related to all OVC human trafficking grant programs. Key grantee activities included in this reporting are 1) comprehensive and specialized services to victims of human trafficking; 2) developing multidisciplinary task forces with federal, state, and local law enforcement, service providers, and community organizations; 3) conducting training, technical assistance, and public awareness activities; and 4) data collection and evaluation activities to determine whether the program is meeting stated goals. According to the TIMS data presented, the 118 programs served a total of 8,375 clients during the reporting period, with 5,090 being new clients. Of the clients served, 79 percent were adults and 21 percent were minors (under 18 years old). Percentages are reported for those served who were victims of sex trafficking, victims of labor trafficking and victims of both sex and labor trafficking, as well as the percentage with uncertainty about type of trafficking. Percentages are also reported for victims by gender, including transgender.
