This pamphlet outlines facts pertaining to the history, administration and operations, and programs of the Arkansas Department of Correction.
Abstract
In addition to identifying treatment programs and field services, the pamphlet describes Arkansas Department of Correction construction and maintenance services and facilities, reviews the tasks of the compliance office and internal affairs, and provides financial, personnel, and population information as well as inmate statistics. Inmate treatment programs encompass medical, mental health, and dental services; chaplaincy services; education; vocational education; and volunteer services. The field services unit assumes responsibility for parole, community services, and work release. Administrative services handles personnel, budget, accounting, purchasing, training, and information systems. In fiscal year 1989, the average daily inmate population totaled 5,420
