Abstract
THE BOOK FIRST SUMMARIZES DATA ON 32 AMBUSH ATTACK EVENTS, DESCRIBING IN PARTICULAR THE TYPE OF ATTACKS, THE VICTIM OFFICERS, AND THE ASSAILANTS. SPECIFIC COUNTERMEASURES ARE THEN DESCRIBED FOR BOTH ON- AND OFFDUTY SITUATIONS, FOLLOWED BY DISCUSSIONS OF INTELLIGENCE, TRAINING AND EQUIPMENT CONSIDERATIONS. APPENDIXES EXPLAIN TECHNIQUES AND TACTICS OF ENTRAPMENT BOMBING, DESCRIBE A CASUALTY RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM AND RELATED DATA COLLECTION SYSTEM, AND PRESENT SAMPLE LESSON PLANS FOR TEACHING RISK REDUCTION IN BOTH THE CLASSROOM AND ROLL CALL SITUATIONS.
