This 1994 Uniform Crime Report for Connecticut provides detailed statistical data on index crimes, property crimes, and arrests.
Abstract
In 1994, 149,085 index crimes were reported, a decrease of 2.2 percent from 1993. The number of violent crimes, including murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault, totaled 15,018 in 1994, a figure almost the same as that in 1993. Property crimes included burglary, larceny, and motor vehicle theft, and these crimes decreased by 2.5 percent between 1993 and 1994. Monthly crime variations showed that crime occurrences generally peaked in the summer months of July and August. The lowest crime volumes were reported in January and February, the coldest months of the year. Law enforcement agencies cleared 20.3 percent of all reported index crimes. Collectively, 44.9 percent of violent offenses and 17.6 percent of property offenses were cleared. The amount of property stolen during 1994 in the course of index crimes totaled $174,045,435; 49.2 percent of this amount was recovered. Data are also provided on law enforcement officers killed or assaulted, family violence, hate crimes, and missing persons. Tables and figures
