Data on crime and arrests in Louisiana in 2010 are reported, as recorded in the State's Summary Uniform Crime Reporting System.
Abstract
There were 166,199 index crimes reported by the police for 2010, compared to 199,191 reported in 2009. There were 427 murder and non-negligent homicides in Louisiana in 2010 compared to 530 in 2009. Law enforcement agencies reported 1,125 forcible rapes in 2010, compared to 1,359 reported in 2009. A total of 4,169 robberies were reported in 2010 compared to 6,105 in 2009. Burglaries decreased from 46,246 in 2009 to 39,348; and larceny decreased from 112 offenses in 2009 to 96,303 in 2010. There were 8,925 motor vehicle thefts reported in 2010, down from the 11,717 reported in 2009. A total of 499 arsons were reported for 2010, a decrease from 886 reported in 2009. Offenses were also reported by crime rate. Crime trends are shown for the period 2001-2010. There were a total of 31,812 arrests for index crimes in the State in 2010, compared to 32,109 arrests reported in 2009. Arrests are reported for juveniles and adults. Data were also reported for weapons used in murder, robbery, and aggravated assault, law enforcement officers feloniously killed, and the number of law enforcement officers and civilian employees of law enforcement agencies.
