AN EXCERPT FROM THE 1972 COMPREHENSIVE PLAN FOR CONNECTICUT, THIS DOCUMENT PROVIDES AN OUTLINE OF THE ORGANIZATION, FUNCTIONS, AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE POLICE, COURTS, AND CORRECTIONAL SYSTEMS OF CONNECTICUT.
Abstract
A GENERAL OVERVIEW OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM IS FIRST PROVIDED. THIS IS FOLLOWED BY A SERIES OF EXTENSIVE DESCRIPTIONS OF EACH OF THE CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM COMPONENTS NOTED IN THE OVERVIEW. THE COMPONENTS DISCUSSED IN THIS REPORT INCLUDE MUNICIPAL POLICE SERVICE IN CONNECTICUT, THE STATEWIDE ENFORCEMENT COORDINATING COMMITTEE, THE MUNICIPAL POLICE TRAINING COUNCIL, THE STATE POLICE DEPARTMENT, AND THE CRIMINAL LABORATORY SERVICES. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE THE BAIL COMMISSION, THE CIRCUIT COURT, THE SUPREME COURT, THE JUVENILE COURT, THE DOMESTIC RELATIONS BUREAU, ADULT PROBATION, THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTION, AND THE DEPARTMENT OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES.
