A SUMMATION OF COMMUNITY RELATIONS SECTION ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS FOR 1972.
Abstract
STOREFRONT POLICE 'SHOPS' ARE PROVING SUCCESSFUL FOR THIS DEPARTMENT. YOUTH AIDES FROM THE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSIST THE STOREFRONT POLICE OFFICERS IN COMMUNICATING AND ESTABLISHING RAPPORT WITH CITIZEN GROUPS. MAJOR PROGRAMS RUN BY THIS SECTION INCLUDE YOUTH PATROL (A RIDE-ALONG PROJECT), LECTURES, RAP-SESSIONS WITH CITIZEN GROUPS, SENTENCED YOUTH RIDERS (WHEREIN YOUTHFUL TRAFFIC VIOLATORS ARE SENTENCED TO RIDE WITH POLICE PATROLMEN FOR 4 HOURS), TOURS, NEIGHBORHOOD SEMINARS, IN-SERVICE TRAINING, CRIME PREVENTION PROGRAMS AND A FILM LIBRARY. DATA IS PRESENTED CONCERNING THE YOUTH RIDER PROGRAM, AND STOREFRONT ACTIVITIES.
