THIS REPORT COVERS THE FOUR MAJOR PROJECTS OF THE LABOR DEPARTMENT'S EXPERIMENTAL MANPOWER LABORATORY FOR CORRECTIONS (EMLC), WHICH TESTED THE FEASIBILITY OF SUPPLYING VOCATIONAL TRAINING TO IMPRISONED MALE FELONS.
Abstract
THE PROJECTS COVERED IN THE REPORT ARE THE TOKEN ECONOMY (ECOLOGY) PROJECT, CORRECTIONAL OFFICER TRAINING (COT), LONGITUDINAL FOLLOW-UP STUDIES, AND UTILIZATION. PROJECT OBJECTIVES AND A SUMMARY OF PROCEDURE ARE INCLUDED, AS ARE FINDINGS AND DATA FOR THOSE PROJECTS IN WHICH ANALYSIS IS COMPLETE. A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE EMLC IS PRESENTED IN THE INTRODUCTION AND THE FINDINGS, PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED, AND PROPOSED DIRECTIONS FOR PHASE IV STUDIES ARE CAPSULIZED IN THE CONCLUSION.
