The document is the second annual report of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms regarding firearms commerce in America.
Abstract
In response to its regulatory responsibilities under the Gun Control Act of 1968 (GCA) and the National Firearms Act (NFA) the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) began in 2000 to release annual reports concerning firearms commerce patterns in the United States. This is the second annual report. The report provides information on domestic firearms manufacture and ATF regulatory activities including the Bureau’s efforts to improve regulatory compliance, develop partnerships with the firearms industry, and improve the firearms tracing process. The report further presents information about the importation and exportation of firearms, ATF initiatives to improve the firearms license renewal process, and ATF initiatives to decrease illegal firearms trafficking and sales. 16 exhibits, figure, note
