This report presents a profile of the monthly inmate populations of Florida's county detention facilities for 1994, as well as comparisons with previous years.
Abstract
On the average, the county detention facilities held 37,485 inmates during 1994, an 8.6 percent increase from 1993. The average daily population totals included 32,586 adult males, 3,901 adult females, 967 juvenile males, and 32 juvenile females. A total of 73.3 percent were incarcerated for felony offenses, while 20.4 percent were detained for misdemeanors and 6.3 percent for other offenses. Most of the juveniles (96.1 percent) were charged with felonies. On the average, 57.4 percent of the offenders in the county detention facilities were pretrial. Figures and tables
