Abstract
This handbook, issued to inmates received into Harris County (TX) Sheriff's Office custody, is divided into two main sections. Section One covers general information, such as: safety; access to legal information and case status; daily activities, rules, and inmate expectations; and general privileges. Section Two discusses criminal acts committed while in custody, disciplinary due process for minor and major infractions, and general disciplinary rules. Several subsections detail aids and services for persons with disabilities and hearing impaired inmates, presents the process of submitting Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) grievances, and overviews the medical/health services offered to inmates. The closing subsection details related resources available in the greater Houston area, such as: drug and alcohol recovery/treatment, children's services, job training/readiness, and wrap-around services.
