EVALUATION OF THE ORGANIZATION AND ACTIVITIES OF THE EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE, WITH ADDITIONAL EVALUATIONS OF THE NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF CORRECTIONS (NIC) WHICH SPONSORED THE PROGRAM AND THE IMPACT OF THE INSTITUTE.
Abstract
THE ASSESSMENT OF THE INSTITUTE FOR CRIMINAL JUSTICE EXECUTIVES IS FIRST PRESENTED. A SHORT DESCRIPTION OF THE SOURCES AND FORMS OF THE DATA USED BY THE EVALUATION TEAM IS GIVEN, AND IS FOLLOWED BY A COMPREHENSIVE OUTLINE OF THE CONCLUSIONS OF THE TEAM, WITH A LIST OF THE MAJOR FINDINGS FROM THE DATA WHICH LED TO THESE CONCLUSIONS. APPENDIXES TO THE FIRST SECTION CONTAIN A BRIEF DISCUSSION OF THE CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND RATIONALE OF THE EDUCATIONAL EVALUATION, A LIST OF INSTRUCTIONAL OBJECTIVES THAT WERE PROPOSED FOR THE INSTITUTE, AND SUMMARIES OF STATEMENTS MADE BY PROGRAM PARTICIPANTS. A GENERAL IMPROVEMENT IN MANAGEMENT SKILLS ON THE PART OF PARTICIPANTS WAS NOTED. A BRIEF EVALUATION OF THE NIC IS GIVEN, AND A SUGGESTION FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF AN EDUCATIONAL PLAN TO INSURE A COHERENT STRATEGY FOR TEMPORARY EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS IS PROVIDED. THE EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF THIS PROGRAM ON THE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM SHOWED SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENT IN MANAGEMENT AND PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
