Abstract
The activities of the supreme court, the Judicial Council, the Judicial Planning Committee, the Judicial College, the State law library, and the Judiciary Commission of Louisiana are briefly described. Graphic and tabular data are given on the workload of the State courts of appeal, on the State district courts, and on the family and juvenile court. Additional data are presented on the district courts and on the city and parish courts. A statistical appendix shows that the workload of the State courts is at a record high level. Filings in the supreme court have increased by 248 percent since 1970, with other major increases in filings in the courts of appeal, the district courts, and the city and parish courts. Photographs, organizational charts, and maps are also provided.
