The Kansas City Police Department's (Missouri) security plan for the 1976 Republican National Convention is presented.
Abstract
Heading the security enterprise is the commander of convention security. Those reporting directly to him are media liaison, the community relations section, the police legal adviser, and the operations commander. Immediately under the operations commander are commanders dealing with the following areas: convention site, field operations, personal security, intelligence, support services, hotel security, traffic, personnel, investigations, and liaison. A discussion of the organization, personnel, and procedures of the command post precedes major sections devoted to the personnel requirements, operations, and guidelines, and instructions for each enterprise headed by a commander. The discussion of each major command responsibility is broken down into its constituent operations. Maps, tables, charts, and guidelines are provided.
