Crime in schools and related issues are discussed.
Abstract
This updated guide addresses issues and problems involving school crime and violence including, inter alia, gangs, drugs, vandalism, weapons on school campuses, disciplinary offenses and punishment, campus security, search and seizure by school officials, and child abuse. Relevant laws and court decisions are discussed to assist administrators and teachers in dealing with the various issues presented. Also included is a chart outlining the most common illegal drugs and their appearance and possible effects, and includes current information to help school administrators and teachers recognize the symptoms of drug abuse. Discussion of recent laws enacted by the California legislature to deal with drugs and other criminal activity that affect schools is provided.
