This article presents a description of law enforcement leadership development programs offered within nine States across the country.
Abstract
Established law enforcement leadership development programs across the country include: (1) Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Florida Criminal Justice Executive Institute; (2) Kansas Association of Chiefs of Police, the Kansas Police Administrators Seminar; (3) Kentucky Department of Criminal Justice Training, the Kentucky Leadership Institute Branch; (4) Maryland Police and Correctional Training Commission, the Executive Development Institute; (5) Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association--Chief Law Enforcement Officer and Command Academy, Executive Training Institute, and Leadership Academy for Midlevel Supervisors; (6) Oklahoma Association of Chiefs of Police, the Police Chief Administrative School; (7) Pennsylvania’s Chiefs of Police Association--Command Institute for Police Executives and Advanced Command Institute for Police Executives; (8) Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Standards and Education, Chief Training; and (9) Virginia Police Chiefs Foundation, the Virginia Center for Leadership Education.
