The 1985 National Justice Agency List is a master name and address file created and maintained by the Bureau of Census for the Bureau of Justice Statistics. This document provides an explanation of the list record layout (field numbers, identifiers, number of characters, and character position) and a record description of data items, fields, and characters per field.
Abstract
Separate data items, fields, and character information is provided for specifying agency type and structure and workload information for each of the list's 10 sectors. These include the public defender, law enforcement, courts, probation and parole, juvenile corrections, local and State adult corrections, Federal adult corrections, other justice agencies, and prosecution and civil attorneys. The questionnaire and a summary of the research are included.
