Abstract
The protocol is intended for use in conjunction with the Sexual Assault Evidence Collection Kit. The protocol provides a narrative guide to the proper collection, storage, and handling of evidence. It emphasizes the immediate and long-range medical treatment of the victim. Individual sections also discuss victims with special needs, such as the elderly, disabled, or male victim and the needs of child victims. The guidelines also cover testing and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases.
