This Home Office Statistical Bulletin presents quarterly data on arrests, outcomes, and stops and searches under the 2000 Terrorism Act.
Abstract
Major findings from this report include the following: for the year ending June 30, 2011, 134 persons were arrested for terrorism-related offenses in Great Britain; of the 134 persons arrested, 31 percent (42 persons) were charged with an offense, compared to 44 percent in the previous 12-month period; of the 42 persons charged with an offense, 52 percent were charged for a terrorism-related offense; 58 percent of persons detained under the terrorism legislation had their charges dealt with within 2 days; and for the year ending June 30, 2011, 12 persons stood trial for terrorism-related offenses, of whom 9 were convicted, compared to 40 persons who stood trial the previous year with 29 being convicted. This report from the UK Statistical Authority presents updated quarterly data for the period ending June 30, 2011, on arrests, outcomes, and stops and searches for persons detained under the 2000 Terrorism Act. Data for the report were obtained from police forces in Great Britain, the Ministry of Justice, the Crown Prosecution Service, and the Office for Security and Counter-Terrorism. Tables and figures
